I think the D2 is the way to go as many other Clubs around use to the same .
I don't think Rotax will change to a different Tier , so it will be good for use as we have the option to use them to.
Why is 99% using them? Don't Fixed if it is not broken .Especial in the next couple of Years as the Budgets can be really tied for some Racers.

Would like to see the open tire rule ontinue for at least 2016 while we investigate other potentially better options (better as in more consistent, faster longer lasting, cheaper and quite possibly a combination of those qualities).
The open tire system is working why change it at this late stage before we have done our homework to assure ourselves that it is the best option.
Lets canvass the tire manufacturer's / importers to see what our options really are before mandating one option that we have no reason to think is the best - just the easiest to buy because they are currently the easiest to source.

For those not shopping at the used tire pile – the following are online pricing from US stores.
Shipping would be extra In this case but the relative cost of the tires are probably valid – presumably a Canadian importer could realize the same savings.
Plus MG tires are manufactured in Brazil rather than Germany – likely changes in exchange rates will be in Canadian Dollars favour.

First price from Comet Kart Sales – second number Kartorama
Unfortunately I can't format this properly on the site - but there are two values for each size of tire

Brand .........................Front ............................6” Rear ..............................7” Rear
MG Prime (Yellow) ..........$53 & $53.19...................NA & $56.39..........................$56 & $56.39
MG Option (Red) ............$51 & $51 ......................$53 & $53 .............................NA & $53
Mojo Prime (D2) ............$58 & $58 ..................... Not produced .........................$70 & $70
Mojo Option (D1) ...........$53 & $53 .....................$66.50 ...............................$68.50 $68.50

Mojo Prime set of 4 $243 US
MG Prime set of 4 $218 US $25 less or 11% less

If you are buying new Mojo tires are about 11% more costly per set – approximately $25 US more

MG PROSs – Cheaper - prime tires available in both 6 and 7” rear widths – ( 6” rear rims often specced ouside Alberta and are the spec ASN size, Plus very possibly faster than 7”) CONS – not readily available in 2016 – but could be specced for 2017

Mojo PROs – readily available, very convenient for those running both Rotax and Briggs, available free with a little hunting on used tire pile. CONS More expensive new, no Prime 6” tire available.
