TKM K4S

Post by Fred »

The first TKM K4S class has now been established in BC for the 2011 season. In support of this a new service station has been established to add to the already established AB service station operated by Overdrive m/s the first two Canadian Tal-Ko recognised facilities.
TGRM has combined with Allen Berg Racing Schools (also aTKM K4S Operator) and Tal-Ko UK to provide an exciting Championship prize package (TBA)
This High Power 4 stroke is a very long life motor (it is not considered an entry level 4 Stroke) that gives the driver who wants more power and speed but still wants to stay in 4 Strokes the opportunity to lap at near 2 stroke lap times.
TGRM wishes all the drivers at WCKC that are racing this engine a great season of racing in 2011 and beyond.

Fred....am I correct in understanding that the 'K4S" suffix implies the new TAG format with the smaller on-board starter ?

No Mark it is still external start, they had to put the TAG version on hold as they are having problems with the PVL ignition system that they put on their 2 stroke TAG which was also going to be fitted to the K4S the same ignition that is used on the KF motors that are also having problems with them.
Because the K4S is so reliable they do not want to take a chance with fitting it and so destroy the great reliabilty and customer satisfaction base that they have until PVL can come up with a fix.
After many discussions amongst the WCKC members they decided that the inconvenience of an external starter was far out weighed by the reliability and power from the standard motor over their B&S World Formulas (THIS IS NOT THE SAME MOTOR AS THE NEW lo206) and the lap times at Chilliwack were around the same as a Senior Rotax. They now have 8 motors there and more people (mid to rear end Rotax guys) are now also looking at it. It should be stressed however to everyone that this is not the entry level way to get into 4 stroke Karting that is the lo206 or PA Clone but it is available for people who like the reliability of 4 stroke but with 2 stroke power that want to stay in 4 strok karting.
