Class Rep Role description (draft)

Post by John Kwong »

Class Rep Role:

• To act in the best interest of the CKRC as a whole, and the class within that organization.

• To represent the members and interests of the class, with regular interaction as needed either verbally, by phone, by email , club forum or other digital media and to organize group meetings as needed ( Calgary Public Libraries are now offering free meeting rooms).

• To stay current with CKRC, Alberta (Edmonton/ CKRC), ASNCanada and International karting regulations and trends pertaining to their class, and to be ready to inform people in the class of same.

• To present any proposed changes to their class structure/eligibility/ equipment legality etc that might impact the rest of the club or its activities to the Executive in a timely manner so that it can be discussed at Executive and Club meetings before the start of the season. Note approvals involving significant changes (new engines etc) may take some months to reach consensus and competitors may need several months after that to acquire equipment to compete before the start of the season.

• To monitor the club forum for their respective classes on a regular basis (at least weekly) reporting any inappropriate comments to the Webmaster, bringing topics to the executives attention as needed, and replying to posts as required.

• To liaise with the executive and other class reps over mutual issues, to ensure that there is a clear path from Junior to Senior and from the lower to higher horsepower classes.

• To propose updates an additions to this volunteer role.

• To create a monthly log of the tasks and workload for future class reps.

May be called upon to act as a Race Steward in particular circumstances involving incidents with other classes
May be invited to attend Executive meetings (currently first Wednesday of the month)
