How can I insure my karts against fire and theft?
I realized last night that out karts probably aren't insured. How can I insure these? What has anybody else done?

That's what we have done, Paul. They are simply part of our umbrella policy.

Be careful.... your trailer is covered for LIABILITY by your auto policy WHEN CONNECTED TO THE (INSURED) TOW VEHICLE.
SOME contents may be covered by your home owners policy. Common things, not specialty items like karts and lots of special tools and parts.
CALL your insurance company, assume NOTHING.
EDIT: Just spoke to my insurance and they clarified that they cover LIABILITY on the trailer when it is connected to an insured tow vehicle. So if you have an accident and your trailer swings out and hits another vehicle, they repair the other vehicle and you are on your own for your trailer.

I've just insured my karts for fire & theft through Stoneridge Speciality Insurers, the company working with ASN. Very easy and quick, all done through e-mail. Annual minimum premium is $400. For that you get quite a lot of insurance. Details are:

Re: How can I insure my karts against fire and theft?
Update on my efforts to get some insurance...
Called Astro 3 times. Left message, no one ever returned the call.
StoneRidge is similar except that I did manage to speak with Kory and he sent me some paperwork that doesn't seem to apply to a kart setup. Iv'e tried a number of times to call him at the office, cell, etc. left messages, no response.
Doesn't seem to be a lot of options out there but anyone considering insurance with these outfits would be well advised to look into how a claim is processed. If it's anything like this, don't count on ever seeing any money !

Re: How can I insure my karts against fire and theft?
A suggestion, if you're not getting very far with anything...
If memory serves, about 15-20 years ago, the Rickman family (Genesis Racing Products - yep, that was a few years ago) worked in the insurance industry and may have offered insurance for karts.
You might want to look up Mark Rickman (I think he's still in the industry - I'd assume George has retired by now) in the Vancouver area (or contact Steve Rickman at RaceLab) to see if they might be able to help.
