Mini-Max 2017 Season

Postby franksartor » Mon Feb 06, 2017 7:15 pm

Hi everyone, I am starting this thread to encourage some discussion on the upcoming 2017 Mini- Max Season.

We are looking for someone to take on the Class rep role, the description of the role is posted in the Pit Talk forum. As a note all class reps time will be counted towards their 2017 volunteer hours.

Wondering about numbers of regular drivers for this class as well. Kiefer Peet will be a regular driver.

If people do chime in on this, it would be great for information purposes if they could also indicate if they are running a 1010 (2016 rules "Mini") or a 950 (2017 rules "Cadet") frame?

With the change in chassis rules from 2016, EDKRA is looking for as much info as possible to plan rules for the Summer Challenge to ensure a fun and fair race for everyone!

Hi Rob,

Looks like for sure we will have 3 mini Max racers running on 1010 chassis with 2016 ASN rules. I have't heard of any as yet running the 950 Chassis with 2017 rules. Given these two sets of rules we will have to come up with an Alberta Shoot out mini max solution. I'm hoping the the 2016 rule set with the 1010 chassis, 22MM exhaust restrictor and the 290 lbs weight minimum with fixed gearing will be as competitive with the 2017 950 Chassis, 20 mm exhaust restrictor with a lower 265 lbs weight and open gearing? Testing will tell.

Thanks Frank!

I've sent out a survey to the Western clubs to get some feedback on what other clubs are doing as well.

It would be nice if everyone could get on board with minimal differences between clubs.

Right now, I'm a fan of adopting a basic "2016 rules" OR "2017 rules", and adjusting with either weight or mandating fixed ratios for each class to balance performance. It might not be "perfect", but anything more than that can really get confusing...
