LO206 Briggs for junior

Post by fast_and_the_curious »

Question for new guy, I know the junior Briggs motor is restricted, can a senior Briggs unrestricted be made to restricted easily? Came across a kart for my junior but has the senior engine.

Yes, very simple to change a briggs engine from SR to JR. All you need is a different carburetor slide and a cap lock.

There has been some rule changes in the last couple years that could require additional parts. The carbs have changed, and they have been DQing the older ones, so be aware of that if it has an older engine.

The older carburetor will say Walboro on the face of the body, the new one has a Briggs and Stratton emblem on it.

The brutal reality is they have DQ carbs that were stamped Briggs, with the appropriate part number marked on the carb body, but the internal measurement failed. If the engine has orange seals, I believe it should have the right carb. I think it was new for 2020. A new carb is probably $200-250, and outside of the top five, you're not likely to get teched, so it could be worse.
