Have a question about the Briggs L206 idle ̶s̶p̶e̶e̶d̶ mixture screw. I had one fall out while driving already and the replacement doesn't seem to fit right.
The Problem:
Even when fully screwed in, the new replacement screw still sticks out a lot. I tried leaving the spring out but have the same problem. See picture for example of it fully seated.
What I'd expect:
I'd expect the screw to sit pretty close to flush when screwed all the way in.
Potential problems:
It looks like there might be a broken spring inside the barrel that's preventing me from turning the screw all the way in. (A bit hard to see but I attached a couple pics)
If it is a broken spring inside, it's in really solid and I can't remove it.
Just wondering if anyone has ideas and whether those internal threads are supposed to be there?

That is the old spring inside. It doesn't look broken. If a pick won't get it out, there are two options - use an ultrasonic cleaner to clean the carb, and it will likely come out, or just use the new screw with the old spring, and leave the new spring out.
