Re: Fuel talk - octane, ethanol, etc.
The detail on my estimate of fuel savings by going to 87 octane. I've rounded the numbers to keep the math easier... I keep close records of our karting (and other spending). Last year, we spent $350 on kart fuel. This was between our two Rotax karts, covering 9 races and many more T&T and coach...

Re: Alternate Race Formats, Awards and Track Records
My two cents - if it's worth that much... On trophies for the podium sitter each race - They seem not to be very expensive, so I suspect that savings for eliminating them would not be significant. I suspect the younger races may appreciate them more than the older folks. There have been a few occasi...

Re: Fuel talk - octane, ethanol, etc.
I’ve found the ratio for manual jetting. Pure ethanol wants 1.6 times more air than gasoline for optimal combustion. At a 10% blend, that means we should be going with jetting 6% bigger than with pure gasoline. We’ve been focusing on the main jet - but this would also impact the needle jet - any ide...

Re: Fuel talk - octane, ethanol, etc.
Sites won't go back and forth - aside from some disruption that forces them away from their typical supply point. With federal and province carbon & cap and trade regs, use of non-ethanol gasoline is much more expensive for suppliers. This is why things are moving to E15. Fuel producers/importe...

Re: Fuel talk - octane, ethanol, etc.
Co-op was the last hold-out with non-ethanol gasoline and started converting their sites in late 2022. It's possible that where you sourced your sample from had not yet converted. Sites won't go back and forth - aside from some disruption that forces them away from their typical supply point. With f...

Re: Fuel talk - octane, ethanol, etc.
I hadn’t factored that the club moved to ethanol gasoline in 2023 into my jet choice ‘algorithm’. I’ll be sure to adjust this season.
Not that many of us follow the Rotax app recommendations, but I wonder what type of fuel they assume in their calculations.
