Re: If you race shifter/rotax, why do you also race 4-stroke?

I raced Rotax for a number of years, before joining in on the Briggs racing. I figured that since I was at the track anyways, why not race a second class; I saw John doing it, so how hard could it be? ;) I struggled at times keeping the Rotax running properly, whereas the Briggs never gave me any he...

Re: Where to start

Welcome David! Just a couple additional things to add. The VLR is currently a small class, but we're definitely trying to grow it. And yes, we do race in the rain. A set of Vega rains will come in handy. If you plan on racing in the rain, a rain suit of some form will come in handy. I just use a mot...

Re: Kart graphics

I've used JakeDesigns out of the UK, and they've been great to deal with. They've got stock designs, and will custom make anything. We had them do the latest editions to our Try A Kart fleet as well. For a custom design, printing, tank stickers & shipping, my McSweeney's kart came to $215 CDN, plus ...

Re: Rear rims 180mm

Hey there Mike,

I've got a couple sets of T&T tires mounted on 180's in my trailer.
If we're out at a T&T anytime soon, you're welcome to give them a try.

Re: Uneven Tire Wear

I won't be back out to the track until Sunday's race, but if you're racing, I'm sure we could borrow someone's Sniper and check it out. Since we're running the same chassis, we could compare them, and see where you're at. My team-mate has one, but he won't be there until the following race. But most...

Re: Uneven Tire Wear

Hi Cabel, First thing I'd do is throw a Sniper alignment tool on it to check & see what your camber is like. That may have changed when you adjusted the steering. Normally we get wear on the insides of the right tires when running the CCW direction. I have to swap my tires after each race to keep th...

Re: masters set up + tire pressure's questions

Hi Jason, There is no real correct answer, but the easiest place to start is to find someone on the grid that's using the same model of kart to yours, and see how they have it set up. I run a Birel, and ran about the same tire pressure as you, and I too was losing rear grip towards the end of the ra...

Re: Tire / wheel stretch or no stretch

I'm one of those guys, and you nailed the theory!

I haven't had the chance to do back to back comparisons, but putting the wider rim on a tire is definitely a bit more work.
For the Brigg's classes you don't need to have bead screws.
