The red button has to be out to get spark. Make sure the little wire coming out of the coil is connected to ground. If you follow how the manual says to wire up the coil, you will not have ground. And or course, make sure the wire coming out of the magnito is connected to the coil. Pull the plug out...

Rookie School / Fred's Concussion

I would assume that with Fred being offline for 24hrs+ due to his concussion, that the rookie school scheduled for tomorrow morning would be postponed. Can anyone confirm this please?

Yes, I have the old one where there are 4 slots (there is a division between the screws), and the new one (mounted to the engine) that is just two large slots, two screws per slot.

Perhaps is the answer removing two of the screws, leaving only 1 per slot? Just thought of this now.

Well, the manual says the recommended timing is 3mm. From what info I can find, you set this by using a dial indicator, zeroing it at TDC, then turning the engine back until the dial indicator drops 3mm, and that is where the timing mark should be set to.
