great footage...clearly missing most all of my apex's makes it pretty damn easy for you to close the gap. HA!

Question from the newbies.....
Do you guys have any issues with the way the green flag was dropped? I was expecting him to hold the green flag in an upward position, and then drop it / wave it.
He started from a down position and I didn't have any revs ready.
Garrett

Ps. My video from 5th should be ready tomorrow night.

Fun to watch guys, thanks for sharing!

As for the start procedure, it really should be better. I have had flag starts before back in the UK when racing motorbikes and the procedure was to hold the flag aloft stationary, signifying the start was imminent giving all drivers chance to prepare. I was also at the AMRA Nationals a couple of weeks ago and they did the same thing. Not rocket science and something I think should be discussed for future races.

My recommended procedure:

Approach grid and take your spot

Grid is formed

Flag man puts fist in air, signifying grid is formed (put kart into gear)

Flag is raised with stick in right hand, tip of flag in left hand between index and thumb

Flag is released in 2-5 seconds. The race begins when there is an air gap between left hand fingertips and flag

The crowd goes wild!

Regards,

Joey

Joey describes the start procedure for a typical start back in my motorcycle racing days. Seemed to work well at the time.

Joey describes an accepted and practical start procedure. All racers are entitled to a consistent start procedure so they don't get left out unaware.

The Sr-4-stroke final start was also...erratic. Ruined my race.

We will go over it again ..... what I dont like and think os unnecessary is they way everyone comes to a stop to do a practice start ... it backs up the field making formation a longer process and the front row sitting longer at a stand still which then forces us to rush the start... I would like to se all karts roll tot heir grid spot and stop straight off .. we can then set the grid quicker and take a little longer with the flag procedure. Having you guys stop in the right place first time would help too.
