Summary report of Senior Briggs class meeting held last night, April 14th at Tim Hortons in Riverbed.

Item #1 - Minimum Weight limit for Senior Briggs Light Class:
There was discussion of dropping the Senior Briggs light class from 350 lbs to the ASN Canada weight of 340 lbs. Most of the incentive for doing this was to match up with EDKRA's weight in this class and easier for those who travel to not have to adjust the lead set-up on their karts. One proposal was to delay the implementation of the 340 lb weight rule until after the first 4 CKRC races. This was met with mixed reviews and ultimately failed. 2nd proposal was to only have the 340 weight for the Alberta Shoot-Out rounds. This also seemed to be a piecemeal solution. Ultimately, the group that showed up and those who were polled felt that it was too close to the beginning of the season to make such a change when a significant number of competitors had made significant efforts and investments to get close to the 350 lb minimum weight. Looking at this for next year was the general consensus.

Item #2 - Tire Rule for Senior Briggs Light and Masters:
There was discussion of potentially specifying the MOJO D2 which almost everybody is using to race as the spec tire for the Senior Briggs Light and Masters classes. Again with the lateness of this proposal to change from an Open Tire rule, there was a general consensus to leave the tire rule as open for the time being. With the increased cost of MOJO's this year, it might be in the classes interest to pursue a cheaper spec tire for next year. I would expect the MOJO D2 tire to be the tire used predominantly this year.

Personal Note: There are stickier tires which may prove to be faster but will do nothing to promote the level playing field that we all enjoy as gentlemen club racers. A tire war at the club level will only serve individual needs and could ultimately tear the class apart.
