Quick weight change to run senior and master's?

Has anyone done this before? I'm thinking about being able to run two classes, without yet owning two karts. Obviously I could run Senior with Masters weight still on the Kart, but I just thought maybe there is some way to switch the weight quickly and still have it safely secured. Any thoughts?

I don't recall how much weight you need to add for masters, but the only allowable way to fasten it is with bolts. It doesn't take a bunch of time if it's only 10-15 lbs, but if it's a bunch, there can be some awkward locations. Any single weight over 5lbs needs two bolts, and will take longer. I think if there was a class in between it would be easy, if they are back to back, they may be able to wait for you, or relocate one of them on the schedule.

It would seem someone has found a new hobby?

Oh most definitely Phil, I just need to pickup a kart. In the spring for sure.

But since I'll probably be stuffing it in my trunk for the first year, and still wanting to race two classes, I thought I could race both Briggs classes. We will see what I can sort out.

Thanks for the info on the number of bolts, etc.

Senior Briggs is 340lbs and Masters is 375 -so 35lbs difference.

That would be 7 bolts (1 bolt per 5lbs) to do and undo to switch back and forth, assuming you were right on weight in the lighter class.

Brham on the Gentlemen Plumbers race team (#22) was doing this. Go speak to him about how to do it fast. He did it for two races this year. Used one kart for both classes.

Thank you, I'll do that.

Just to add to this , All weight has to be secured by bolts and locking nuts .. Quick release systems are not allowed (ie spring clips)

Thanks for the response Fred, but I'm not looking to do anything like this anymore.

I'll be in VLR Senior (is the plan so far), and will look for a second kart when I'm ready for a second class.
