Race position board

With the manufacture of the new Cardel Race Control we will be putting the position number board back on the rear of the door on the sea can ... couple of questions
1. Who is the board really for ? The racers on track or the spectators in the bleachers (asking so we know if we need to angle it toward the track)

2. Do you prefer to see it in the side by side configuration 1-5 then 6-10 or as it used to be at Varsity in one straight row 1-10 ?

We will be getting on to this probably early in the week so a quick opinion if you have one !

I'm going to chime in as a spectator but hope to race next season in Briggs. I really like the set up at Edmonton as it is in the center of the grass area. It can be seen from many a vantage point. I know, it's a whole new ball game to get it wired to the center field area at this point. Do they not make things remote technology that solve the issue of trenching in a new line ? I know Carter, does glance often to the board during Qually, and probably during the race too. I have witnessed several drivers refer to the board as they drive within sight of it. It really needs to be central especially if we will continue to have more area's to sit and spectate. We talked about a new handicapped viewing area on the east side of the grandstands and I highly doubt if this is where it is placed, that the guests will be able to see it through the grandstand and potential crowd that is seated there.

I am sure many drivers govern their on track strategy during qually by being able to know where they sit in the potential grid? Especially towards the last ticking seconds of the session

Vertical looks nicer if we can do it.
Useful for both spectators and racers.

Definitely nice to see it as a spectator. When I brought my wife out, or if she is watching me race next year , then being able to see leaders, etc. is very helpful.

I think the side by side is odd. I suggest 1 - 10 top down would be better. Are the white numbers faded off? I don't recall seeing them last time I was out.

Some numbers had peeled off and were supposed to be replaced but unfortunately time was not on the side of the installer.

Vertical 1-10 looks the best, and having it like EDKRA, would be nice. However, I would be more than happy with a vertical 1-10. As a driver is nice to see how qualy is working out and what the fastest time is; as a spectator, its nice to see who is leading. It needs to serve both racers and spectators.

Vertical is better. As a new driver I found it difficult to see and understand it at a glance when they are side by side. I just stopped trying eventually.

I definitely use it both as a spectator and racer during qualifying. Vertical would be the best if it can be strong enough to withstand the wind. Central location would be nice too but only if a wireless solution can be figured out. We have several telephone poles to choose from stored in the SW corner that could be installed.

Off topic sorry Fred ... The scoreboard is wireless. Needs 120VAC.
