Great topic John, this will likely turn into a somewhat useful guide for people. I’ll post some of the tricks I’ve picked up on over the years when I can properly document them.

On the weekend, I straightened 6 steering shafts and 2 tie rods.
Today I worked on my shifter: I changed front and rear brake pads, changed the transmission fluid and modified my radiator blocker so that it had more rotation to expose the radiator. Tomorrow I have to mount new tires for the weekend and change the oil in the Briggs kart and clean it.

Got questions about race prep, let me know.

I found a trick recently to cleaning black marks off the decals. It is not without risk!!!

If you start by removing the thick black marks with a scraper until its mostly gone, then take PVC primer and rub the applicator it on a small area at a time, then IMMEDIATELY wipe all the primer off with a clean rag. The Primer will take the black marks off super quick. If it is left on too long it will soften your decals tho. Be careful.

As good as Lane's previous comment is, lazy old men like me get tired of any form of physical work.
You've paid good money for decals and if you're tired of removing the black tire marks that cover your side pods, put on a 3M film/wrap.
It's easy to apply and quite cheap as well.
When it gets covered in black marks, simply heat it up with a heat gun and remove.
Then apply a new clear film strip where the old one was.
