AUG 7 John has been adding loam around the track edges to control the drop off at the verges. Aaron got the stands jogged into perfect placement on last Saturday, Edges of pad have been tamped, flagpole brought over to edge gravel base. Stair moved into place for grandstands at end of Saturday 7th racedayReady for metal cover plates to be reinstalled between the sections of stands. Seat plate do not need to be installed between the center and West sections - all floor plate must be installed.
Water trailer updated. Golf cart rear seat in town ready to install after next race (will need to update hitch with seat installed)
COMPLETED: July 31 - Last week saw general ongoing facility maintenance - John cutting and weedwacking grass, ongoing watering of the paddock and track, while Fred started repairs to the garbage bin enclosure.
Ju;y 27 Peter installed a paving stone path to the Atco registrationn building and Dave finished painting the Crow's Nest.
Mario and Blake helped extend / rework the gravel pad for the stands - they will be rotated about 20 degrees to the West to give a better view of the action when they are replaced. Three members have volunteered picker trucks so they should be back on the pad soon. and then we will be ready to reinstall the plates between the sections and we will have to relocate the stairs. Should have the stands ready soon.
UPCOMING: Chainsaw needed for telephone poles and fence posts around pregrid extension (Mark has volunteered).
Reinstall connector plates between the stand sections. Install safety netting (Paul has stepped up, and netting is in process). Relocate stairs to match up to new stand location.
With the facility operational we are moving away from the work party concept and encouraging individuals and groups to take on specific projects - maybe come early to the T&T and put in a little time on the facility rather than donate a whole day of your weekend to a work party during the racing season.
Some of these like grass cutting etc will be ongoing and some like securing the scale house to the asphalt surface are obviously one time projects.
As such we will be updating the project list as attached as people step forward to take responsibility for an identified task.
Everyone is encouraged to talk to the executive and / or manager about taking on some of these roles. You can email via the contacts page or better yet come talk at lunchtime on Race Days, or at T&T so that we can discuss the concept and targets for each project on site.
If you have suggestions for ongoing or capital projects we can add those to this list.
