Good Morning Fred,

Maybe we should change the question and ask, "Who would be interested (committed to attend) a Junior 1&2 three day summer camp?"

James and I were at T&T last night and we saw many new Junior 1 and Junior 2 members (and adult racers) that have not entered any races due to the lack of guidance on what happens on race days (practice, proper racing line, qualifying, formation laps etc.). They are intimidate and overwhelmed, so they just become T&T specialist then loose interest and become past members with a kart sitting in the garage for sale.

Eight years ago a group of parents (we know who they are) decided to take it into their novice hands to develop these new young racers (First Junior CKRC camp) which resulted in a cohesive group of racers that continue to excel and are still the same racers on the podiums. I hope this program does not go by the wayside and disappear as the young racers are the future of our club we enjoy. We past the torch to new parents, but no one is stepping up.

This may be too late in the season, but hopefully this remains on the front burners next year. We want to be part of the solution with guidance from management and the executive.

Respectfully,

Gil Altamirano

There was an email sent out today to gauge interest in the school, and it has been opened up to all beginners (which I think makes a lot of sense, and should be no problem for rotation). I agree that this is one of the things that has helped our club evolve, and has produced some high level talent. I would commit to volunteering for at least one day if it goes ahead.

Thanks
Phil

We should cross-post this to the other forums as well.

Interesting. Well, I -for one- did not get this email. Andrew is Jr1 age (but has kid kart membership because he can't make Jr 1 weight).

Hi Mark. It was sent out with Frank's July 12th update through Motorsportreg.

Oh. Yes, I did get that; I somehow thought it was a separate email
