Dan, the J1 #s were actually up last year over 2009, & are looking to grow significantly for 2011. If we made a "club" class with clone engines(which goes against your belief that all classes should be ASN spec) we would lose about 1/2 of those. We should be fielding a class of 8 - 14 J1's in 2011,which would be the highest number in several years.

Anywhoo...
There is a separate thread for the Junior discussion and where they may or may not go.
Senior 4 cycle:
Since we had our meeting in early December and decided what the class direction is going to be, I am totally keen on this coming year. If we can get 2 or 3 more clones out there, a few new LO206's and last years gang, we are going to have some serious fun.

If there was any doubt why we should be using the LO206 as a class engine then review the race between Jack and Chris during the final race yesterday. There was no difference between the karts in terms of power yet the two of them must have exchanged positions 7 or 8 times during the 20 laps. The engine (borrowed) we used was almost new and I just bolted it on the kart and went racing. The typical complaint about 4 stroke that it is boring but if we all used the LO206 I can see some exciting racing at a reasonable cost.
But we should be standardizing regs and conform to the WCC regarding weight and tires.
If handled properly, I can see keeping more junior racers in the sport when they do not want to go into 2 stroke. And the conversion over from Honda 5.5 is cheap: same kart, engine mount, clutch, gears and tires/wheels. And it is about a second a lap faster.
Hopefully we can get a field out for the WCC.
