VLR Starting Class

Hello,

Last weekend at the rookie school, I learned about this VLR class. I knew about briggs and rotax but I guess i didn't do enough research.

I have two boys who will be starting karting and I would also like to start. My thought process is keep all 3 karts the same brand for interchangeability.

I have the boys two karts, and am looking for one myself and I can only find VLR versions of this brand. I have done some research online, I know these engines are roughly twice the HP, a little more maintenance, and more expensive to run (fuel/tires).

I have done some auto racing (never competitive) but never karting other then a speeders. I am not afraid of speed, and am aware that it will be a lot of work (especially at first) to keep the kart on the track. Is this a viable option for me? I seems like a growing but small group in VLR? Last thing I would want is to be "that guy" in the class. Guess I am looking for approval before anything.

HI James,

Welcome to the club.

We have a had a few members that jumped right into VLR, and other that progressed from Briggs....

IMHO the VLR is a good entry option for somebody who does have prior motorsports experience.

In reference to the "brand" question, you did not specify which brand you have. One of the nice things with the VLR package is that you can put it onto a 4 stroke or 2 stoke chassis, so there is some flexibility.

When I started, I took my Briggs CRG and swapped out the engine for a VLR.

Yes, we are a small group, but we're a great group who support each other, so anything we can do to help get you on the track, just let us know.

Sent you a PM with my contact info - feel free to reach out.

Hey Kieth,

I picked up a couple of Vemmekarts for the boys, so that's why I am trying to find a Vemmekart for myself. Only ones I can find are VLR.

Thanks
James

If your interested, a previous club member just called me, and told me he still has his Vemme for sale. It is also a VLR. It is around a 2021 year, and has one season of racing on it. He is wanting to sell everything he has left, so there will be a stand, Mychron, and spare parts, etc.
If you would like more info, text me at 403-652-0995, and I can put you in touch with him.

Phil

Hello James,
I'm Dave, a former member of the CKRC, and just spoke with Phil about selling off the remainder of our Karting equipment. I do have a Vemme, and is a VLR. (can be changed easily for 2 or 4 stroke setups). I have kart stand, extra parts, kart, Micron, extra gears, tires, rains, rims and more.
send me a text if you are interested, or reach out to Phil.
This will be the best deal on the internet. I just want to make room.

I actually picked up my kart last Saturday. Wish I would have made this post sooner.
